Nea Moudania was founded after 1922 by refugees from Asia Minor. The city is located in a natural bay, with breathtaking view to the unfolding vastness of the Aegean Sea and the holy Mountain of Olympos. Moudania is the most populous city of Halkidiki. Thus, visitors can find bank branches, big super markets, shopping malls, post office and of course a vast choice of restaurants and bars.
Although, the city does not resemble the 'exotic' landscape that characterizes Halkidiki, however, there is a 2 kilometers long beach, which is ideal for children and families, because of its shallow waters.
The city of Moudania hides some pleasant surprises for the visitors and the locals of Halkidiki, as well. If you are lucky enough to be there from July to August, you will experience the famous 'Festival of the Sea'. This is a top cultural event organized by the Municipality of Moudania. It is offering, to the guests, the opportunity to attend extraordinary theatrical performances and enjoy musical nights. But even if you don't have the chance to attend the Sea Festival, then you will for sure enjoy the 'Sardine Festival', which takes place during the first fortnight of July. There, you will enjoy loads of fresh fish and good wine, while dancing in the sounds of traditional Greek music.
So, there is nothing left but to go and see for yourselves the lively city of Nea Moudania.
